What to Expect

What to Expect

Our goal of hearing care is effective solutions that fit into your daily life.

Committed to Your Understanding

Every step of our approach is based on helping you understand the state of your hearing and what you can expect from hearing aids and other treatments to manage any concerns. We listen and learn, and then we share recommendations that will have the biggest impact in your life.

About Us

Your First Appointment

By taking these first steps, you will understand the state of your hearing and the options for treatment or hearing aids.

A comprehensive hearing test is essential.

At ACNA, we explore the physical state of your complete hearing system using the latest diagnostic technology and a wider range of tests compared to most other hearing clinics.

A clinician will connect the results from your hearing test to how you experience everyday sounds. We will take the time to explain and translate any technical details.

Review the opportunities for hearing aids and treatments that will manage your hearing loss or tinnitus. This step is a two-way conversation – we want to ensure any next steps match your lifestyle, work, habits and hearing goals.

After Your Hearing Test

We will send you a report to summarize your results and submit it to any medical professionals, if necessary. The following steps and timing will depend on the recommendations from your clinician.

Select Hearing Aids

If hearing aids are recommended, we will ask you various questions about your preferences, habits and lifestyle. We will review all the pros and cons of the options so you will know what to expect and you’ll get the most suitable devices for your needs.

Review Funding or Insurance Options

Funding options and insurance is different for everyone. If you qualify for funding, we will assist with the application process and collaborate with funders to get you the devices you need.

Hearing Aid Fitting

Hearing aids have to be calibrated to the specific hearing loss prescription of the wearer. Our team will also walk you through the features and maintenance of your new hearing aids.

Trial Period

The Audiology Clinic of Northern Alberta offers a risk-free trial period on all new hearing aids. You can return the devices if your experience is not as expected. Our goal is for you to have complete confidence in your decision.

Counselling and Rehabilitation

Hearing aids can have an immediate impact, but ongoing support from a clinician can improve the long-term benefits. We’ll share strategies to manage the effects of hearing loss.

Every hearing aid from the Audiology Clinic of Northern Alberta comes with the option for ongoing support and maintenance through our Complete Care Plan.
