Registered Audiologist

AuD., M.Sc., R.Aud

Essie has been a clinical audiologist at the clinic since 1998. She received a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree from the University of Regina in 1992 and her Master of Science degree in audiology from the University of British Columbia in 1994. Essie completed her Clinical Doctorate in Audiology through Central Michigan University in 2014.

Originally from Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, Essie was a recipient of a Saskatchewan’s Health Bursary and as such worked at the Saskatchewan Hearing Aid Plan from 1994 until 1998.

Essie decided to go into audiology in grade 10. Wanting to go into a health field, she was inspired to go into audiology by her uncle that was deaf and friends who wore hearing aids. Essie specializes in amplification and diagnostics, and has extensive experience with both adult and pediatric patients. She is also known for her patience and empathy.

Essie loves the fact that she has had some of her clients for 23 years and has seen some of her pediatric clients become parents, some of her other clients become grandparents, and even great grandparents. Essie regularly attends educational conferences and seminars, staying current on technology and research.

She is also interested in Industrial Audiometry and is a registered Professional Supervisor of the Audiometric Monitoring Program through the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing conservation. Essie is a Registered Audiologist with the Alberta College of Speech Pathologists and Audiologists and is a member of the Canadian Academy of Audiology and the Alberta Association of Audiologists.

When not at work Essie loves to spend time with her husband, 2 children and dog.
