Pairing Hearing Devices to Smartphone

Pairing Hearing Device To Smartphone

Apple iPhone/iPads

1. Go to your settings.

2. Make sure Bluetooth is on.

3. Scroll down until you see Accessibility and select that.

4. Scroll down until you see Hearing Devices and select that.

5. You will come to a screen that is searching for hearing devices. If your name didn't automatically show up with a L&R indicating both hearing aids are found, then turn the hearing aids off/on again to get them into discovery or pairing mode:

To do this:

  - Open/close the battery doors.

  - For rechargeable hearing aids, put them in the charger for a few seconds, then remove.

  - Manually turn them off by pressing the volume down button or the lone button on the device for 5 seconds. Then turn them back on by holding that same button for 3-5 seconds.

6. Select your name when it appears with L&R.

7. The phone will prompt you to pair. Do this twice if you have two hearing aids.

8. After pairing, you should be connected. Test by making a phone call. If you can't hear, select the hearing aid(s) as the audio source.

Apple iPhones

1. Go to your settings.

2. Ensure Bluetooth is on.

3. Go into Bluetooth to search for devices. If the hearing aids are not in discovery mode:

To do this:

  - For non rechargeable hearing aids, open/close the battery doors.

  - For rechargeable hearing aids, put them in the charger briefly.

  - Also for rechargeable hearing aids, you can manually turn them off/on using the volume down button or lone button.

4. The device list will populate with the hearing aid. The hearing aid will have been given a name by your clinician. Usually the right hearing aid is the default hearing aid that connects to the phone by Bluetooth, but it could have been changed to your left hearing aid by your clinician. Only one hearing aid will connect to the phone in this step.

5. You will hear a beep when the hearing aid aid is connected.

6. Test the connection with a phone call. If you can't hear, ensure the hearing aid is selected as the audio source.
