Laréna loves the opportunity to meet amazing new people who recognize that good hearing is an important part of having a great quality of life. Over the years of helping people, Laréna has had the privilege to maintain relationships with many amazing people.


She grew up in the Edmonton area and completed her Master’s Degree in Audiology at Western University – home of the National Center for Audiology – in 2003. She received the highest score in the national college’s certification exam.


After she graduated, Laréna started working as a clinical audiologist at the Audiology Clinic of Northern Alberta. In this role, Laréna completes diagnostic hearing assessments and provides clients with appropriate hearing aids to improve the quality of their interactions with friends and family.
 
 

Laréna enjoys learning and is constantly deepening her knowledge of the auditory system, hearing aid technology and management techniques for tinnitus and hyperacusis. She participates in aural rehabilitation classes offered by the clinic and is certified in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy. To expand the clinic’s tinnitus care services, she has taken advanced training in cognitive behavioural therapy for tinnitus and hyperacusis.
 
She is involved with the Alberta Association of Audiologists to improve awareness and understanding of the benefits of audiological care. Laréna is a Registered Audiologist with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists, and she is a member of the Canadian Academy of Audiology and the American Academy of Audiology.
 
When Laréna is not at work or learning new things, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
